Firefight was introduced into Halo ODST for friends to team up and take on wave after wave of Covenant scum. But it had some problems. There was barely if any real customization to waves, guns, shields, and a lot more.
Halo Reach brought these problems onto the drawing board and added very detailed customizations to the new Firefight. Reach introduce wave properties so you could choose what enemy came out in a specific wave. For example, if i wanted a whole army of grunts with just two hunters, all i have to do is go into game settings and head to wave properties and seth group 1, 2, 3, and 4 to grunts and group five to hunters.
Reach also decided to add weapon choices so when you spawn you can start with a rocket launcher and a sword. This widens strategies for staying alive longer. Shield difference, gravity, jump ability, and radar are just a few of many details you can chance.
However even with all of these options some people and sometimes even myself question its ability to keep you playing for long periods of time. Gears of War 2 introduced Horde in its game. In my point of view Horde can keep you playing for longer periods of timethan Firefight.
Along with different types of Firefight available, one stuck out to me in the E3 Demo was Firefight verses mode. In verses mode, 2 players are Spartans like in normal Firefight. But 2 players come into the map as elites. those 2 elites face off with the Spartans. Sadly this Firefight mode, until recently wasn't an option for online matchmaking. The day it first was put in it had at least 5000 people playing that playlist. Now it only has around 1300 people. i see why. It has poor gameplay online and as far as i am concerned, and most of my friends agree, its to hard facing off against 2 human controlled elites mixed in with loads of grunts and Jackels.
Over all i give Firefight a good and well deserved 4 stars out of 5

Halo Reach Campaign Review Winter contingancy and ONI Sword Base
Reach has a unique campaign that is a prequel to Halo Combat Evolved. The story takes place on the planet reach when your character Noble 6 is assigned to the Noble team. Reach is a very valuable planet so when the UNSC gets news of a possible rebel attack, they send in a noble team to eliminate the rebels and retrieve the missing marines. Turns out it wasn't rebels it was the Covenant. an alien race that attacks Reach and starts the war that lasts until Master Chief ends it. The story continues with Noble team heading to UNSC Sword Base. a vital Office of Navel Intelligence. Sword Base is located on the Babd Catha Ice Shelf in Eposz. Due to the natural delicacy of the environment around Sword Base, orbital cannons are ruled out as an option. This leaves Noble team to stop the raid on Sword Base. Later in the mission after the Corvette is destroyed by Orbital defense, You are introduced to Dr. Cathrine Halsey. Dr. Halsey is one of the lead Doctors behind the Spartan Project. Kat, a Noble spartan. Hands over a data madule that Noble six recently found on a dead body in the previous level.
Winter Contingency review: The Gameplay for this level was "slow" at first some might say. but i believe Bungie just wanted to set the mood of confusion throughout Noble team when they found weird clues from possible plasma residue on the Warthog to random blips on the radar. the first fight starts a little less than halfway through the level. I am happy to say Bungie did a good thing by making the Elites taller than Spartans like all the books and previous games said they were. No game until Reach actually included the height difference in them. When you first encounter the Elites, old Halo Habits kick in and you start by charging straight into the group of Elites. Well you soon realize... very soon realize this game wont work that way. Bungie saw the lack of power the Elites had in the previous Halos. And seeing that Elites are about 8 to 9 feet tall and overall bigger built than Spartans they deserved to have an edge over us when it comes to strength.
The introduction of the new cousin of the Jackel called the skirmisher really made players rethink strategies that worked in the past. skirmishers are fast and can jump to high ledges. this makes game play completely change.
